Convergence

Convergence is a multiplayer map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. It is set at a resort that spans across a small canyon near the bottom of a waterfall. My main design goal with this map, was to encourage the fast frantic gameplay often found in smaller maps like nuketown, while maintaining the benefits of a larger layout. The way I encouraged this gameplay style, was to have the paths crossing the river be fairly exposed, so that players had to cross with a reckless abandon if they wanted to take control of key areas of the map. One of my secondary goals with this map was to create a map which more closely integrated the wall running mechanic alongside traditional traversal options. To accomplish this, I placed wall running paths perpendicular to the 3 main river crossings, so that players who chose to interact with the extra movement options could quickly adjust their plan of attack. Working on this map was also a great learning opportunity. During its construction I became familiar with the radiant editor, and got the opportunity to work on a map that heavily featured natural elements.
